Hi I'm Jim Martin, welcome to my woodworking site. Woodworking is a stress relief for me and this site is a way of displaying the work I do and hopefully allow me to sell some things along the way to help pay for the hobby. My intent is not to make this a full time business, just share what I do and maybe make a buck here and there. Most of the things I make are because I see a challenge in making them, like the design or just think it would be fun to make.

My love of woodworking began in High School. I played with making things over the years and then purchased a Shopsmith to try and enhance my skills. It wasn't until 1999 that I decided to get serious about this hobby and try to find some classes that would help me expand my knowledge. I was lucky enough to stumble across Marc Adams woodworking school and thus began my woodworking journey in earnest. Since then I have been back to Marc's school every year taking over 20 courses covering design, finishing, turning, carving, scroll sawing, marquetry and numerous project or jigs related classes. Marc's school has world class instructors and I have learned a tremoundous amount from them as well as made a lot of friends.

I have a wonderful wife that encourages my sawdust messes and even suprises me with various tools now and then. One of those suprises was a Oneway lathe for Christmas several years ago. Luckliy she enjoys turning as well and we have been able to take some classes and learn the skill together.  I am father of three great boys, have two step-daughters and 7 grand children. I have been trying to give each grandchild a rocker when they turned 2 but they have been having kids faster than I can keep up. Hopefully this is the year I get ahead of the kids.

Well that is enough about me. Thanks for taking the time to look at my site and I hope you enjoy looking at the items I make as much as I have enjoyed making them.

Jim
